According to former Manchester United attacking winger Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Owen will be a big hit at Old Trafford. Ronaldo said that Owen is the right man for the famous seven number Manchester United shirt.

After leaving Newcastle United, Owen was signed by United as he was available as a free agent. He was brought to Old Trafford to fill the place which was left empty following the departure of Ronaldo to Real Madrid for a world record £80million fee.

Ronaldo backed 29 year Owen by saying that Owen will make a big impact at United and also said that Owen wants to get his career back on track after having injuries for almost four-years which lead a downfall to his career. He added that United have done the right thing to get Owen at Old Trafford and give him the United seven number shirt.

Before finally selling Ronaldo to Madrid, the Portuguese star was heavily linked for a move to Madrid for almost two-years. He added by saying that leaving Man Utd was not an easy decision, yet he is exited to be at Bernabeu.

It was revealed today that Carlos Tevez has joined Man City . The Argentinian striker refused claims that he avoided calls and text messages from his former club manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

On Tuesday Tevez arrived in city of Manchester for a medical and it is suggested that he has agreed a five-year deal with the Eastlands club. Carlos left Manchester United at the end of last season and this is now Man City’s third major summer signing. Tevez attending his first press conference as a City player said that during his two-year spell at United he was never contacted bu his manager.

On other hand, transfer speculation continues as it is suggested that Tevez could be joined by Emmanuel Adebayor the Arsenal striker and John Terry. Carlos was revealed in from of the media on Tuesday before they go for their three matches which will be held in South Africa.

Mark Hughes City Manager insisted that Carlos Tevez might not be the last major signing at the club. He said opportunities will be there. The main reason of signing big names is to fill those areas where the club is weak at.

He said to challenge the big four clubs of the and to break into the top four, we want to be in a position where our team can challenge anyone and this we want to be done perfectly before the season starts. If any opportunity is there to sign any other big player we will buy them.

When a question was asked from Mark Hughes that signing of Tevez is of good value for money for the club or not, the manager replied by saying that having Tevez as a City player is more then a good value for the club.

Manchester United are edging closer to sign Barcelona striker Samuel Eto. Whereas Eto is also ready to drop his wage demands which he might have got if he would have joined Barcelona. For past six weeks it was Man City who were looking to sign the Cameroon striker and his wage demand of £200,000 was also accepted by Manchester City.

Eto also wanted £12million out of the £25m transfer fee which he wanted as he will not be playing European champions league. It is being said that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants to sign him he would give up all his demands. Ferguson is still in hunt of a striker despite signing England International Michael Owen. United is the only club in Europe whose status could tempt Eto to leave Barcelona.

If United sign Eto then he will be the highest earner at the club, despite a cut of in his wages which would still be around £150,000-a-week. It will be quite better for Eto then playing for a mid-table team in Barclays Premier League. From sources which are close to Eto reveals that Eto was never convinced to play for Man City club who are a mid-table team and also said that he will neither sign a new contract with Barcelona.

The new deal which Barca are offering to the striker is an extended two-year deal with his wages remaining same which are £100,000- a-week. It could also be like this that he could play with Barca as this is his final year with them and then he could be a free agent at the end of the season. With Eto talks are still going on, it is suggested that Barcelona will sign David Villa from Valencia at the end of this week.

French striker and former Lyon striker Karim Benzema said that he opted to move to Real Madrid before rejecting to join United and Barcelona.

Everton are hopeful that Brazilian striker Jo will be available for their 1st pre-season friendly match which is at Bury on Friday.

Ben Foster has agreed a four-year deal with Manchester United and the Champions are on the verge of signing Bordeaux winger Gabriel Obertan.

Foster has signed a 4 year contract with the Red Devils that will keep him as a player till 2013. Meanwhile Gabriel is undergoing a medical which if he clears then the 20-year-old will make a dream move to United. Foster career has not been great as injuries kept him away from playing but a four-year contract has certainly boosted England international morals.

Foster missed a lot of the season due to a injury in his right thumb due to which he had to undergo a surgery. Due to that he was forced to sit on bench for important matches like the Champions League final which the Champions eventually lost to Barcelona and also England World Cup Qualifiers.

Foster signing a new deal has made Sir Alex Ferguson (Manager) happy as he needed a backup for Edwin Van Der Sar. He also said that he is a great young goalkeeper in England and is the best alternative after Van Der Sar.

Arsenal have confirmed that the Dutch International forward Robin Van Persie has signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners. He was Arsenal’s last season top scorer scoring 25 goals from 44 games he played for the Gunners.

Robin joined Arsenal from Feyenoord his home town club in 2004. The details of the contract has not been disclosed to any one but from reports it is suggested that the Dutch will be getting £80,000-a-week which will make Robin the highest paid player at Arsenal.
